Lipitor was approved in 1999 by the FAD, Atorvastatin Calcium is a prescription drug which is available only under the brand name of Lipitor, this medication belongs to a class of drugs called HMG CoA reductase inhibitors, or "statins."

Cholesterol is a fat light substance ingested via food, cholesterol is needed by the body to fulfill necessities in the body but too much can lead to a heart disease,

Lipitor fights high cholesterol levels by blocking the action of an enzyme used to produce cholesterol. With less of this substance being made the liver instead uses cholesterol that is already in the blood there by lowering levels.

Although Lipitor is used to reduce high Cholesterol levels it is also approved to lower heart attacks or strokes or other heart complications in people with diabetes, coronary heart disease, or other risk factors..

Lipitor is only available in 10mg, 20mg, 40mg, 80mg tablets; it should be always taken along with water, for better results this medication should be combined with a low cholesterol diet and a healthy exercise plan
